A perfect wedding in Italy requires a good deal of planning and exceptional organizational skills to ensure a complete smooth and problem-free event. Every detail must be attentively arranged. Every single aspect of your special day must be taken care of, from legal documentation  to your final honeymoon destination in order to create  unique atmospheres and emotions for the memory of a lifetime.

1. Decide your budget

The most important thing before starting to plan is to decide a budget. Getting married in Italy implies a certain amount of expenses (travel, accommodation, wedding ceremony etc..), however Italian weddings can be  affordable. The cost of a wedding has many variables which depend on dates, location, type of venue and services required: certain locations in Italy are very expensive but other beautiful areas do have reasonable prices.  Having an exact idea of how much you want to spend will help your  wedding planner to suggest a wide variety of  suitable locations and venues according to your budget requirements.

2. Choose the location

Italy offers many wonderful locations from important tourist destinations to small country villages. The most required wedding destinations in Italy are Florence, Rome, Venice and the Amalfi Coast although recently other wonderful areas are increasingly selected  as  a wedding location due to their  romantic atmosphere, historical sites, high quality food, beautiful venues and affordable prices. Umbria, the green heart of Italy is one of these, together with Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet, Tuscan towns such as Siena, Pisa, San Giminiano, Cortona and Arezzo and also  Marche region.

3. Select the type of ceremony required

Various types of ceremonies in Italy are available. Civil weddings in Italy are recognized all over the world and are legally binding. Some paperwork is required so it is advisable to have an on-site experienced wedding planner to deal with the formalities. Catholic weddings  in Italy are also legally binding. This type of ceremony also implies a certain amount of legal procedures which may be performed by a local wedding planner. Other religious weddings are not legally recognized in Italy. If you want your religious wedding to have legal validity you may organize a short civil ceremony either in Italy or at home prior to the religious one. Symbolic weddings do not have any legal requirements and can be easily organized.

4. Choose the type of  venue

Italy offers a wide choice of venues: from important medieval castles to villas or small country houses with enchanting gardens.  In the main cities beautiful palaces and luxury hotels are also available. In some cases the wedding ceremony and the reception may take place in the same venue, in other cases the wedding ceremony may take place in the town hall or in a wonderful church or synagogue and the wedding reception inside a castle, hotel, restaurant or in an outdoor venue.

5. Choose the services required

According to your budget, if you are  organizing a wedding in Italy, you may require additional services such as floral decorations, music, photographer, video service, transport, baby sitters, guest entertainment, gourmet and wine tours, theme weddings etc.. Decide which kind of additional services you would like.
